4.   V. V. Giri (1969-1974)

Varahagiri Venkata Giri, commonly known as V. V. Giri. He held a number of significant roles, including vice president of India and high commissioner to Ceylon. 

5.   Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed (1974-1977)

Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed became the fifth President of India and served from 1974 to 1977. Born on May 13, 1905, in Assam, Ahmed had a prestigious legal career prior to going into politics. 

6.               Neelam Sanjiva Reddy (1977-1982)

Neelam Sanjiva Reddy took office in 1977. Born May 19, 1913, in Andhra Pradesh. He was associated with the Indian National Congress and played a vital role in the freedom struggle. 

7.               Giani Zail Singh (1982-1987)

Giani Zail Singh served India from 1982 to 1987. Born on May 5, 1916, in Punjab. He held various ministerial positions, including that of the Home Minister of India. 

8.               Ramaswamy Venkataraman (1987-1992)

Ramaswamy Venkataraman, popularly known as R. Venkataraman, assumed office of India in 1987. He was crucial in initiating policies to liberalize the Indian economy and promote foreign investment.

9.               Shankar Dayal Sharma (1992-1997)

Shankar Dayal Sharma held office as the ninth President of India from 1992 to 1997. He was born on August 19, 1918, in Madhya Pradesh. He had a long and distinguished political career, including serving as Governor of Andhra Pradesh and the Vice-President of India. 

10.            Kocheril Raman Narayanan (1997-2002)

Kocheril Raman Narayanan became President of India and served from 1997 to 2002. He was born on October 27, 1920, in Kerala. He held several diplomatic assignments, including India’s Ambassador to Thailand, Turkey, and China. 

11.            A. P. J. Abdul Kalam (2002-2007)

12.   Pratibha Patil (2007-2012)

Pratibha Patil created history by becoming the first woman to hold the office of the President of India. She served from 2007 to 2012. She was born on December 19, 1934, in Maharashtra. She held several ministerial positions, including that of the Governor of Rajasthan. 

13.      Pranab Mukherjee (2012-2017)

Pranab Mukherjee, a seasoned statesman and a veteran politician, served India from 2012 to 2017. He was born on December 11, 1935, in West Bengal. He held several key ministerial positions, including the Minister of Finance and the Minister of External Affairs. 

14.   Ram Nath Kovind (2017-present)

Ram Nath Kovind, India’s fourteenth and current President, assumed office on July 25, 2017. He was born on October 1, 1945, in Uttar Pradesh. He held various positions including, the Governor of Bihar.
