Most people don’t live in a house without furniture, so you should have the same understanding when keeping your animal pen empty. Luckily, many pens, such as those from Clearly Loved Pets, provide enough space to add elements for pet comfort. Here are things to add to your pet’s personal pen space.
Water Bowl
Pet parents must keep all pets hydrated. Keep a water bowl or fountain with clean and fresh purified water. You may place the water and food bowl in the corner of their bin so that they can have access to self-feeding and drinking anytime. Remember, you may need to give your animals extra water during the summer. After all, they are creatures who can also get dehydrated and suffer from heat-related illnesses as humans can.
Beds and Blankets
Could you give your pets a designated bed to sleep on? While the pet pen can serve as one big bed, most animals appreciate a soft cushion. You can place a pillow and blanket in the pen or have a ready-made pet bed. Several dog and cat beds easily fit in a standard-size crate. After all, your beloved pets deserve all the comfort they need. Make your animals even more comfortable during the colder months by covering them with a blanket.
Toys
Pets love toys just as much as children do. Don’t think your pets will grow out of that once they move out of the puppy or kitten stage. Even mature animals enjoy plush toys, balls, and things that make squeaky noises. Something as simple as a ball of yarn can keep a curious cat occupied. When your animal has a favorite toy, you may want to put it in their pet pen with them and put the other toys up in another storage space so the area doesn’t become cluttered.
Light
Sometimes, children like to sleep with a light to make them feel more comfortable. The small night light may also add comfort to your animals, especially young ones or those who have separation anxiety. While that may not be necessary for cats or hamsters, which are nocturnal, it may be an extra comfort for your dogs.
Camera
Does your pet have separation anxiety? If so, place a small camera in the pen to monitor them. That way, when you go away for work, vacations, or any extended time, you can watch them and talk to them through the microphone. Dogs usually respond to your voice even if they can’t see you. That way, you may be able to calm them down if you see they’re looking anxious in their pen until you come home.
As you can see, there are ways that loving and concert pet parents can make a new pen as comfortable as possible. Consider the things your pet needs, such as a soft sleeping area, their favorite toy, warmth, water, and more.
